Narrative Essay

True friends are like diamonds, precious and rare. False friends are like dirt, found everywhere. Friendship should never be a difficult thing; it should always be the easiest thing in life. An insincere and evil friend is more to be feared than a wild beast; a wild beast may wound your body, but an evil friend will wound your mind. A true friend is a hand that is always holding yours, no matter how close or far apart you may be, someone who is always there and will always, always care, a feeling of forever in the heart. A best friend is the greatest of all blessings, and that which we take the least care of all to acquire. The most valuable thing in life is to have a friend, a true friend.

Misfortunes test friends and detect enemies. A misfortune tore apart the friendship of Sally and I. Not only was it something so miniscule and benign but also something that never should have caused so much conflict. All throughout the summer there was clearly some separation between us, but I did not assume anything of it. School came back around and Sally was neglecting Dani and I which was very unusual. I asked her why we were so distant because I am a very straight forward person. The situation blew up and things got out of control. She became very defensive, and started saying barbarous things. Sally might have regretted what she said later on or didn’t mean it, but I could not forget what was said. Once something has been said it’s hard to forget especially the barbarous words. Well the point is, a friend is someone who gives us the freedom to ourselves.

One question about Sally and I is why couldn’t things be resolved? There was no solution. This could not be fixed because we couldn’t forgive and forget. I for one could never forget the barbaric things she said nor how easy it was for her to be so judgmental and crude to me. An insincere and evil friend is more to be feared than a wild beast; a wild beast may wound your body, but an evil friend will wound your mind.

A true friend can never be lost through the jungle of growing up. Back in my hometown of Darrington, Washington I left my childhood best friend behind. Randy and I were inseparable; wherever he went I went and vise versa. Moving away was really tough for the both of us, but we promised each other that our friendship was too strong for distance to shatter. Randy is one of those friends that doubles the happiness and divides the pain.

No matter how discombobulated life gets, he is the one to turn everything around, flip it upside down, and reflect on the bright side. Any time I am having a difficult time with something whether it is minute or enormous he always knows how to help. Losing a friend like him would be devastating, but the distance creates a sense of effort to never let the friendship fade away which made it ultimately stronger. A true friend is a hand that is always holding yours, no matter how close or far apart you may be, someone who is always there and will always, always care, a feeling of forever in the heart.

A best friend is like a four leaf clover, hard to find but lucky to have. I am one of those people, very lucky. My best friend, Tori, and I met in 6th grade and till this day we are still best friends. Yes we have had our ups and downs on the same roller coaster as any other friends, but the difference is our friendship is so strong because we believed in each other, we got passed those fights. Tori attends Skyview High School which makes things hard because we rarely ever get to see each other, but when we get the opportunity to hangout we make the best of it.

We have so many memories that I can’t imagine my life without her in it. We bring out the best in each other, and she is my other half. Tori is the sister God didn’t give me because my parents couldn’t handle us both. We are like two peas in a pod because we have so much in common. Nothing could ever rupture our friendship; no matter how long we go without talking or how long we go without seeing each other nothing changes. We are still Winnie the Pooh and Piglet. The key to being a true friend is looking past the imperfections, listening and understanding, telling each other everything, and not believing what other people say. There is so much more than that, yet it’s such a simple thing. I always hear people wondering how our friendship has lasted so long, and I always tell them when our friendship comes naturally. A best friend is the greatest of all blessings, and that which we take the least care of all to acquire.

Each friend represents a world in us, a world not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born. Friends are a part of us, they build our character and make us who we are today. I wouldn’t be who I am today if it wasn’t for the friends that I have. I cherish each and every one of them, and am blessed to have such amazing people in my life. The most valuable thing in life is friendship. Friendship is precious, not only in the shade, but in the sunshine of life, and thanks to a benevolent arrangement the greater part of life is sunshine.
